Back Home and back in the studio, YEAH!!!
It normally takes me a week or so after an Art Fair to get back into the swing in the studio, to rest, recuperate and slow down enough to feel connected to my painting. The Fair and my trip to The Chicago Art Institute got me so inspired that this time I hit the ground running, I mean painting. I will post the piece I have been working on since my return here soon.
This was my first time at Art Chicago. I have helped Karla at The Affordable Art Fair in New York four times. It is interesting to compare fair goers in both cities. My experience in Chicago is that collectors seem to be much more interested in the Art, and the Artist as opposed to where the Art is going to hang. For me this was very rewarding to have the opportunity to talk to so many interested collectors. To see people literally unable to maintain a conversation because they wanted to keep looking at the Art!!!!
New American Paintings had a huge presence at the Next Art Fair in an MFA exhibition, daily blogs and presentations in The Talk Shop. I particularly enjoyed the panel discussion about Artist Residencies.
Karla and I also had some wonderful meals in Chicago, a highlight, Rick Bayless’s Frontera Grill!!!
My next blog post will be about going to the Chicago Art Institute and which paintings for me were the most meaningful.
